Under the Moroccan Sun with Fernwee and Alberto
In a dusty showdown against the unforgiving terrain of Morocco, Fernwee (Martijn van Strien) and Alberto Viciana took on the Roc du Maroc, a no-nonsense six-stage mountain bike race that left no room for excuses. The Atlas Mountains set the stage, throwing jagged canyons and rocky descents at the riders from the get-go, testing their skill and nerve.
Pedaling through palm valleys, the duo encountered a bizarre mix of green oases amid arid surroundings, a stark contrast to the salt lakes that proved a brutal challenge. With temperatures soaring past 100 degrees Fahrenheit (38 degrees Celsius), the Sahara Desert threw its scorching gauntlet at the riders, as they battled through endless sand dunes with sweat-soaked determination.
Though picturesque, the six days proved to be a gritty test of endurance. Fernwee and Alberto's journey through Morocco's harsh landscapes was a relentless grind, showcasing the raw, unfiltered side of extreme mountain biking. Guided by their Karoo 2, Alberto and Fernwee tackled Mother Nature’s toughest offering where the experience celebrated the power of teamwork and the joy of conquering the toughest terrain side by side.
