Alice Towers of CANYON//SRAM Sees the Road Ahead with Karoo
Alice Towers joined CANYON//SRAM Racing last season and quickly became an integral rider in top races like the Tour de France Femmes. When it comes to getting the most out of her Karoo, Alice prefers simplicity; unlike some of her teammates, she uses the same data and profile setup for both racing and training. During races, she homes in on the map, ride time, and distance. Alice also relies on the CLIMBER feature for pacing, a favorite feature among her teammates. After races and training rides, she studies the ride data with team coaches and CANYON//SRAM Sports Director, Magnus Bäckstedt, to inform future sessions.
Bäckstedt notes that most of the team ride and compete with simple and customized profiles featuring the map, power, and time riding. The team does, of course, capture additional data sets including CORE Body Temp and other statistics for post-ride and race analysis.
Bäckstedt, the winner of the 2004 Paris-Roubaix and an early adopter of Hammerhead devices, wishes he’d had the benefit of Karoo during his racing days. He noted the ongoing potential for development of live tracking and other advancements to enhance and inform pro racing in the years to come. As visionary partners, Hammerhead and CANYON//SRAM have collaborated on a variety of product enhancements currently available to all riders.
